In this workshop Professor Moss will demonstrate painting a warp using fiber reactive dyes and will also touch on Ikat resist techniques. Students who wish to paint their warp during the workshop should create a warp using white or natural cellulose materials and should scour the warp prior to the start of the workshop. Make sure to put in safety ties on either side of your cross, the bottom of the warp, and once per yard along the length before scouring. You will want these in place when you are ready to set up for painting the warp. Note: Painted warps are usually sett at a higher EPI than standard for a given structure, feel free to email Jennifer Moss to check your warp calculations before beginning. Students may also watch the demonstration and take notes for future projects without prepping a warp ahead of time. If you have your notebook from FIBR 190 you may want to bring it as reference.
