Join Melanie Anne Herzog, Ph.D., for the Jacob and Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Lecture on the occasion of the SCAD Museum of Art exhibition Elizabeth Catlett: Points of Contact. At this event, presented both online and with limited capacity in the SCAD Museum of Art theater, Herzog shares her unique point of view on the life and legacy of the renowned African American artist whose oeuvre became a cultural bridge between two countries and artistic movements. Herzog is the leading specialist on Catlett and the author of the landmark publication Elizabeth Catlett: An American Artist in Mexico.

The lecture is presented by the SCAD Museum of Art’s Evans Center for African American Studies with generous support from the Jacob and Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Foundation. Established in 2011, the Evans Center celebrates the imaginative breadth and expressive legacy of African American art and culture.

This event is free and open to the public.
