About this Event
32 Abercorn St., Savannah, Georgia 31401
In Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, director Stanley Nelson tells the legendary story of world-renowned trumpeter, bandleader, and trendsetter Miles Davis, one of history's most acclaimed jazz musicians. As Nelson's award-winning documentary shows, Miles Davis was no simple man, leading a notable life on and off the stage. Nelson's film documents the star's incredible life, featuring music from live performances, studio recordings, and outtakes as well as interviews with those who knew Davis best, including Quincy Jones, Carlos Santana, Wayne Shorter, among others.
A special Q&A with Nelson and members of the Davis family — including Vince Wilburn Jr., Miles Davis’ nephew and leader of M.E.B. (the Miles Electric Band), and Erin Davis, Miles Davis’ son and head of the Miles Davis Artists Group — immediately follows the screening.
Tickets for the screening are free for SCAD Card holders and $14 for the general public.
