Join Professor Song and jewelry alumni mentor Olivia La Selva to discuss the history of electroforming from industrial technique to artistic process. Olivia will detail the evolution and usage of electroforming in the modern contemporary jewelry practice and give a brief overview of the science and chemical processes involved with copper electroforming. Students will see a walkthrough of the electroforming process from start to finish using organic materials (sticks, wood, leaves) melded with gemstones in a wearable project (pendant) and be provided with digital print resources for building their own electroforming set up in a home studio, or techniques to apply in SCAD studios with the assistance of faculty.
