Traditionally thought to be a melting pot, America has always been more of a lumpy stew. Architectural History Professor Daves Rossell celebrates this diversity through a survey of the rich variety of peoples and their distinctive places across the United States. From indigenous Amerindians to various European ethnicities to peoples from Asia and Africa, America has always been defined and enriched by the multiplicity of its peoples and their cultures. This workshop emphasizes a variety of skills and knowledge to identify, appreciate, and celebrate cultural diversity in the American built environment, both historically, and in the present day.
